Your role at Sephora:
As a Senior Art Director, you will be responsible for elevating the design and branding for Human Resources initiatives which includes: employee engagement activities, communications, conferences, educational materials, and Sephora Stands programs.  Reporting to the Director, Corporate Communications you will lead and inspire a small team to balance creativity and innovation with Sephora evergreen branding. In addition, you will: 

  • Be both a creative and operational leader, effectively managing multiple projects and a flexing workload throughout the year
  • Responsible for sourcing external designers when needed
  • Build and maintain strong business partnerships across the organization to gain insight into changing needs and ensure your team is meeting those needs
  • Leads, plans, and foresees how branding can be developed and enhanced by partnering with larger Video and Communications team
  • Bring creative, fresh ideas that resonate with our audiences, always keeping a pulse of what is new, trendy, and cool
  • Create original concepts in a range of styles, with clear, concise design that is both aesthetically interesting, on brand, and pushes the creativity of the work
  • Actively inspire, and mentor your team through ideas and brainstorms, sharing creative work you’ve come across, and encouraging them to do the same to help their growth
  • Establish targets and allocate the work to your team, holding them accountable to goals and standards
  • Accurately scope out new work, keeping timing, budget, and resources in mind. Gain agreement with partners and flex/address any concerns quickly as needed
  • Review and approve all designs throughout the creative process from your team, ensuring design supports the objective, content is accurate, and branding is appropriate

We’re excited about you if you have:

  • 5-8 years’ art director experience, especially in communications, branding employee programs, and conferences/events
  • Demonstrate outstanding creative conceptual and design skills through a portfolio that is clean and visually strong  
  • Passion for using design to communicate, engage, and inspire
  • Understanding of current communication trends, including social/digital
  • Solid foundation of design, typography, layout principles, and production processes
  • Ability to produce high-level art direction/inspiration decks that appropriate for print and digital channels
  • Strong communication skills, both written and orally, to communicate vision and strategy to stakeholders
  • Strong relationship-building skills; ability to work with a variety of people in various disciplines
  • Team player and team leader; enjoys working with others and collaborating with positive attitude
  • Solid organizational skills, detail-oriented; time management skills and ability to juggle priorities
  • Proficient knowledge of Adobe programs: InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop; After Effects is a plus
  • Digital experience and (web, apps)
