Assistant Category Manager (Body)

The Opportunity:

 

The Assistant Category Manager will support the Category Manager (CM) in all tasks relating to range management, brand/Sephora marketing plans and executing promotional activity.

 

What You’ll Do:

 

  • Negotiate annual terms with secondary suppliers, under direction of CM
  • Propose joint business plans with these suppliers which animate their specific brand marketing plans and with inclusion within the Sephora marketing and promotional plan, to be signed off by the CM.  communicating requirements to the Trading, Product Content, Retail and Marketing teams in a timely manner to ensure well planned execution
  • Maximise the marketing support from these suppliers, aligned to the requirements of the business priorities including GWP, sampling and media spend.
  • Coordinate strategy meetings for all suppliers, with minutes and follow up.
  • Monitor sales targets and forecasts and reporting back to brands regarding the success / outcome of bespoke Marketing and Commercial activities.
  • Assess proposed new lines from secondary suppliers and following sign off with the CM update both online and in-store ranges accordingly and oversee the set-up, ordering and delivery on time to hit market launch dates
  • Conduct range reviews with brands to ensure all SKUs in the business are performing in line with company expectation.
  • Communicate range changes to Visual Merchandising to ensure store fixtures are updated in a timely manner.
  • Propose the brand range and opening order quantities for new store openings.
  • Monitor sales targets and forecasts and reporting back to brands regarding the success / outcome of bespoke Marketing activities.
  • Analyse sales performance of selected brands on a weekly and monthly basis, identifying risks and opportunities, reporting to the CM with proposals to mitigate/take advantage.
  • Work closely with the Merchandising Team to keep aged and provision stock to a minimum, liaising with suppliers to confirm support for exit/reduction strategies.
  • Work with the Merchandising Team to advise in relation to stock ordering and delivery arrangements including occasionally chasing of deliveries where applicable and updating the Supply Chain Team and internal stakeholders where relevant.
  • Support the Category Administrator(s), helping them to solve issues with their everyday tasks.

 

What You’ll Bring:

 

  • Proven exceptional experience & excellent commercial acumen.
  • Outstanding organisational, accuracy and prioritisation skills including the ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as a strong work ethic.
  • A good comprehension of the beauty industry, ecommerce and high street retail.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships at the very highest levels within the beauty industry.
  • Computer literate with intermediate or advanced excel skills.
