Your role at Sephora:
As a Senior Accounting Manager, you will support North America business, in partnership with the Senior Director and Accounting team.   Complete month-end close and Accounting processes with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency. Reporting to the Sr. Director, Controlling you will participate in cross-functional Accounting projects, in partnership with BP&A and business partners. Develop, mentor and coach Sephora General Ledger accountants. 

 

In addition, you will: 

  • Responsible for actively managing the monthly close process by adhering to the close calendar and Company policies and procedures, while working cross-functionally with other colleagues to deliver on-time and accurate monthly financials. 
  • Review month-end financials for accuracy, quality and to ensure compliance with IFRS/ GAAP.  Provide analyses and commentary on key financial variances vs. budget/ forecast.
  • Be a primary point of contact to BP&A (Business Planning and Analysis) to understand month-end results.               
  • Partner with Sephora’s Treasury team to educate on balance sheet behavior, assisting the Treasury team in developing insightful cash flow budgets/ forecasts.
  • Review account reconciliations and journal entries on a monthly basis in accordance with the close calendar.  Ensure that the GL team adheres to defined close processes, internal controls and that deadlines are met.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to improve efficiency.
  • Assist the LVMH tax team with income tax provisions and audit enquiries.
  • Provide technical accounting guidance to Accounting team, management and business partners throughout the company.  Draft technical position papers when necessary.
  • Serve as an audit liaison to external auditors for mid-year and year-end audits.  Prepare and review audit schedules as necessary. Provide supporting schedules for federal and state tax requirements.

    We’re excited about you if you have:
  • Bachelors’ degree with major in Accounting with strong knowledge of GAAP and IFRS.  CPA required.
  • 8-10 years of accounting experience, public accounting and industry experience mix required.
  • Strong computer skills, especially in manipulating spreadsheets.
  • Exceptional communication skills and client focus, with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong organizational skills and work ethic.  Able to independently prioritize workload based on organizational needs/demands.  Operates with a sense of urgency, as appropriate.
  • Exposure and proficiency with SAP general ledger preferred but not required.
  • Supervisory experience and demonstrated ability to motivate and develop staff. 
  • Demonstrated creative problem solver, with vision for continuous improvement in business processes.
