The Opportunity:
- Coach, lead, engage, inspire, and develop a team of talented Store Designers
- Provide strategic direction while maintaining hands-on involvement in project work
- Foster a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and professional growth
- Oversee planning, interior elevations, and storefront design studies based on Sephora design standards and site-specific conditions
- Facilitate team efforts to develop comprehensive project scopes, including code reviews, tenant criteria, and merchandise requirements
- Ensure quality control across all deliverables and maintain consistency with Sephora design standards
- Coordinate with external consultant architects and engineers throughout the design process
- Partner closely with Real Estate, Retail Operations, Merchandising, Property Development, and Execution teams
- Expertly communicate Sephora's brand point of view to external partners
- Lead initiatives with cross-functional teams and represent Store Design perspectives in strategic discussions
- Navigate and manage high-profile, complex projects including special initiatives and prototype development
- Oversee design implementation, construction document development, scheduling, and permitting processes
- Lead process evolution and implement industry best practices
- Contribute to the development of design tools, templates, guidelines, and feasibility studies
- Provide industry insights and fresh perspectives to continually improve store delivery
- Ensure all stores are on-brand, beautiful, functional, and cost-effective
- Stay current with retail design trends and integrate relevant innovations
- Minimum 7 years of experience in Retail Architecture, Retail Design, or similar field
- Minimum 5 years of leading and/or managing high-performing teams
- Highly proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
- Experience with visualization tools (SketchUp, Rhino, 3DS MAX)
- Strong architectural design skills including floor plans, elevations, and renderings
- Knowledge of construction documentation and CAD software
- Project Management: Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving capabilities
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop design teams
- Communication: Excellent collaboration skills across diverse teams and stakeholders
- Budget Management: Experience managing project budgets effectively
- Retail Knowledge: Understanding of current retail design trends and best practices
- Strategic agility and organizational savvy in complex, ambiguous situations
- Analytical problem-solving skills with ability to synthesize complex, high-volume information
- High initiative and multitasking ability in fast-paced environments
- Strong curiosity, motivation, and commitment to continuous improvement
- Openness to feedback and enthusiasm for challenges
- Ability to plan and prioritize work aligned with organizational goals
The annual base salary range for this position is $132,005.00 - $147,535.00 The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the applicant’s qualifications for the position; years of relevant experience; specific and unique skills; level of education attained; certifications or other professional licenses held; other legitimate, non-discriminatory business factors specific to the position; and the geographic location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will perform the job. Individuals employed in this position may also be eligible to earn bonuses.
