The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dynamic Lead Software Solution Engineer to join our team and play a pivotal role in driving innovation. You'll be responsible for developing cutting-edge solutions that redefine the retail experience and position Sephora as an industry leader.



  • Serve as the technical lead throughout the full development lifecycle, ensuring schedules, milestones, and priorities are compatible with technology and business goals.
  • Build and foster a high-performance engineering culture, mentoring team members and providing them with the tools for success in their day-to-day work life.
  • Establish and support engineering excellence practices.
  • Utilize your in-depth understanding of software architectures and design patterns to create scalable and efficient solutions that align with the company's goals and objectives.
  • Gather business and functional requirements from external and/or internal customers and end-users, and translate them into technical specifications to build robust, scalable, supportable solutions that work well across a range of complex systems.
  • Demonstrate your strong programming skills in object-oriented languages to actively participate in the development of software applications and features, ensuring high quality and efficiency.
  • Leverage your expertise in Oracle X-Store Suite to design, implement, and maintain retail technology solutions that streamline operations, enhance customer experience, and drive business growth.
  • Build collaborative partnerships with enterprise architects, business stakeholders, technical leads, and key individuals within other functional groups.
  • Tackle complex technical challenges with creativity and resourcefulness.

We are excited about you if you have:

  • 10+ years of experience in the full software development lifecycle using object-oriented languages (e.g., Java, C++, C#) and Agile development methodologies.
  • BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in engineering excellence, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operational experience.
  • 3+ years of demonstrated experience in leading and managing a team of engineers, fostering collaboration and professional growth.
  • In-depth knowledge of software architectures, design patterns, and best practices, including cloud technologies and performance optimizations.
  • Work experience in implementing monitoring and alerts.
  • Hands-on experience with queuing and streaming solutions such as Kafka, JMS, Coherence.
  • Hands-on experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Essential hands-on experience working with Oracle X-Store POS products.
  • Analytical approach to problem-solving with a track record of developing innovative solutions for complex technical challenges.
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Passion for staying up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies in the retail and software engineering domains.
  • Highly self-motivated individual who is independent, efficient, and able to handle several projects with a solid sense of setting priorities.


The annual base salary range for this position is $148,100.00 - $193,400.00 The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the applicant’s qualifications for the position; years of relevant experience; specific and unique skills; level of education attained; certifications or other professional licenses held; other legitimate, non-discriminatory business factors specific to the position; and the geographic location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will perform the job.  Individuals employed in this position may also be eligible to earn bonuses.  Sephora offers a generous benefits package to full-time employees, which includes comprehensive health, dental and vision plans; a superior 401(k) plan, various paid time off programs; employee discount/perks; life insurance; disability insurance; flexible spending accounts; and an employee referral bonus program.
