Your role at Sephora:

As a Lead Cloud Engineer, you lead the way in architecting, developing, deploying, and maintaining heterogeneous infrastructures spanning public cloud and traditional datacenters.  You will have proven expertise as a Platform Engineer who is passionate about designing, implementing and running both traditional infrastructure as well as cloud-based solutions. Reporting to the Director of Delivery & Reliability Engineering, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership and guidance to a cross-functional team of engineers in the areas of Infrastructure Engineering, DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering in a pragmatic, lead-by-doing fashion.  In addition, you will:

  • Collaborate with distributed technical teams and effectively communicate the feasibility of requested deliverables and timelines to internal business and project stakeholders
  • Drive understanding with peers and senior personnel regarding technical trade-offs decisions, standard methodologies, best practices and risk mitigation
  • Refine highly technical issues to facilitate discussions with non-technical audiences
  • Manage multiple projects and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced, demanding environment
  • Mentor and coach junior resources
  • Work with service, software, and/or hardware vendors to facilitate recommendations and implementation of new systems to meet business needs
  • Ensure repeatability and scaling – i.e., deliver optimized workflows, standardized methods, and processes for the operation and maintenance of systems



We’re excited about you if you have:

  • 10+ years of core infrastructure engineering experience spanning physical and virtualized servers, storage and network and more recent focus on public clouds
  • 5+ years of experience with datacenter automation and public cloud migration initiatives
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with provisioning, administrating and implementing Azure services at an enterprise scale.
  • 2+ years of experience implementing large scale Terraform IAC in public clouds.
  • Experience with and good understanding of container and orchestration and platforms, i.e. Docker and Kubernetes
  • Deep enough experience with a variety of the tools in the following categories needed to explain overlaps, make recommendations based on pros/cons and demonstrate appropriate use:
  • CI/CD tooling: Jenkins, Argo CD, Artifactory etc.
  • Configuration Management: Chef, Ansible, Salt, etc.
  • Container Orchestration/Management: Kubernetes, AKS preferred.
  • Azure Paas Services
  • A thorough understanding of Linux internals and broader ecosystem, particularly RHEL/CentOS
  • Strong programming skill in 3 of the following: Ruby, Python, Groovy, Bash, Perl, Node.js
  • Deep understanding of virtualization and hypervisors including VMWare/ESX, Hyper-V, KVM
  • Familiarity with IT compliance and risk management requirements e.g. PCI, PII, SOC I & II, ISO27001, HIPAA, etc.
  • Experience developing and delivering both private and public cloud solutions within a retail or ecommerce environment landscape is a plus
