The Opportunity:

The Social Team leads Sephora into a community- and culture-driven marketing future, centering on social engagement, cultural relevance, and an entertaining point of view across social channels. This team is instrumental in shaping Sephora's digital presence and connecting with audiences through innovative social media strategies.

 

Job Summary

As the Director of Social Strategy at Sephora, you will be a dynamic and creative thinker responsible for developing comprehensive social media and influencer marketing strategies to engage our community and drive brand buzz. Your ability to work with cross-functional partners to bring Sephora's social vision to life will be key in this role. You will partner closely with the social and influencer teams and leaders to optimize and improve their breakthrough social content creation.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategy & Program Design (20%): Develop and implement innovative social media strategies across platforms, aligning with marketing goals and objectives. Provide thought leadership in developing influencer/affiliate revenue programs and strategic thinking for priority social initiatives.
  • Stakeholder Management & Relationship Building (20%): Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams including campaigns, paid media, and analytics to ensure cohesive marketing planning.
  • Social Platform Utilization (20%): Optimize Sephora's social/influencer analytical tools and build a social team culture of constant performance optimization. Stay current on emerging platforms.
  • Budget Management & Business Planning (20%): Oversee social/influencer budget and drive annual planning of social team budget priorities. Analyze social media metrics and adjust strategies to improve engagement, reach, and ROI.
  • Thought Leadership (20%): Keep a firm pulse on pop culture, entertainment events, and other opportunities to make waves in social. Monitor trends and identify significant shifts in the social media landscape.

 

Qualifications

  • 8-10 years of experience in social media marketing and content production
  • Prior experience in beauty, fashion, retail, and/or eCommerce is a bonus
  • Creative marketing strategy skills
  • Advanced PowerPoint skills
  • Strong research and writing abilities
  • Pulse on pop culture and current trends
  • Ability to cultivate creativity and disruption
  • Values uniqueness and differences

Additional Information

  • Location: San Francisco Office & Hybrid work model - 2 days onsite weekly
  • Travel: Ability to travel as needed
  • Reports to: VP of Social Media
  • People Management: Directly manages 2 team members  #LI-SR1

 

The annual base salary range for this position is $174,000.00 - $195,000.00 The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the applicant’s qualifications for the position; years of relevant experience; specific and unique skills; level of education attained; certifications or other professional licenses held; other legitimate, non-discriminatory business factors specific to the position; and the geographic location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will perform the job.  Individuals employed in this position may also be eligible to earn bonuses.  Sephora offers a generous benefits package to full-time employees, which includes comprehensive health, dental and vision plans; a superior 401(k) plan, various paid time off programs; employee discount/perks; life insurance; disability insurance; flexible spending accounts; and an employee referral bonus program.
