The Opportunity:

The Director of Payroll & HR Shared Services will develop and manage a team of HR professionals with expertise in the following Shared Services areas: Payroll, HR Operations, HR Compliance, and Immigration, and responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the teams, ensuring smooth delivery of services. 

 

This leader will oversee the following direct reports: Payroll Manager, Compliance Manager, Immigration Business Partner, and 3 HR Ops Analysts and a total team of 10.

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive HR Shared Services Strategy, aligning with the organization’s overall business goals.
  • Lead the continuous improvement of HR processes, identifying opportunities for automation, standardization, and cost-effectiveness
  • Establish and maintain high quality service standards, fostering a customer centric approach to HR service delivery.
  • Design short term and long-term strategy to achieve continuous improvements and efficiencies in payroll processing and delivery.
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of payroll processing, and adherence to all relevant regulations, analyze payroll data to identify trends and potential issues, present data to senior management with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Oversee the various HR compliance programs, advising senior management on compliance-related issues and their potential impact on the businesses. 
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure compliance considerations are integrated into business decisions.
  • Overseeing and ensuring adherence to all applicable labor laws, regulations, company policies.
  • Staying updated on the latest federal, state and local employment laws and regulations, advising on the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures that adhere to legal requirements. 
  • Interface with external/internal auditors, and external vendors.
  • Partner with other HR leaders and business units to ensure service alignment and support for HR initiatives, understand and address any concerns.
  • Manage budgets and resources.

  • Minimum of 8 years of HR experience, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role.
  • Extensive experience in Payroll management with a strong understanding of HR Shared Services principles across Compliance and Shared Services Operations.
  • Proficiency in payroll software or any accounting systems.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of HR policies and best practices.
  • Critical thinker and strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills. 
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to understand the day to day as well as being able to look into the future.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in the HR landscape and leverage technology effectively.
  • Detail oriented, strong understanding of payroll tax laws and regulations, as well as leading and developing a team.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.

The annual base salary range for this position is $200,000.00 - $220,000.00 The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the applicant’s qualifications for the position; years of relevant experience; specific and unique skills; level of education attained; certifications or other professional licenses held; other legitimate, non-discriminatory business factors specific to the position; and the geographic location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will perform the job.  Individuals employed in this position may also be eligible to earn bonuses.  Sephora offers a generous benefits package to full-time employees, which includes comprehensive health, dental and vision plans; a superior 401(k) plan, various paid time off programs; employee discount/perks; life insurance; disability insurance; flexible spending accounts; and an employee referral bonus program.
