Business Analytics & Strategy Team:

The Sephora Business Analytics & Strategy team works in close partnership with key stakeholders across the organization identifying strategic opportunities and making data-driven decisions.  We play a critical role in helping cross-functional teams understand the drivers of business performance through the lens of our clients and provide actionable insights across multiple departments from Marketing to Merchandising to Omnichannel Retail.  We report directly to the VP of Analytics and interact frequently with senior leadership across the organization.

 

Your role at Sephora:

The Sr. Manager, Business Analytics – Category and Brand Insights is responsible for providing thought leadership and strategic insights to business partners across our Merchandising Organization and Marketing Team.  The Sr. Manager will partner within Analytics and across the organization to develop a well-rounded perspective on business performance and bring insights together to tell a cohesive story and drive strategic decisions.  The Manager will directly manage junior team members and be responsible for coaching and career development.

 

This role is highly cross-functional and involves working closely with partners across the business.  The ideal candidate is a self-starter, has outstanding analytic skills and a strong business acumen.  They are data-savvy and have an intellectual curiosity to drill deep to uncover business drivers and present insightful, actionable recommendations to the business.  This candidate can successfully build collaborative partnerships across the organization, independently manage projects, and work effectively with other analytics team members and leadership.

 

In addition, you will: 

  • Transform business questions into fact-based analyses that deliver clear insights and actionable recommendations, with some examples including the impact of new brand launch on overall Sephora business, assortment white space in beauty market, strategic use of competitive and industry insights.
  • Leverage client trends and insights to develop and evaluate brand and category growth strategies, directly influencing decision makers and senior leadership.
  • Provide ad hoc business and competitive intelligence and insights for key senior executives
  • Assist in developing materials to communicate strategy internally and externally (e.g. Operating Committee meetings, strategic off-sites, communications with LVMH)
  • Manage, coach, and mentor junior team members, with responsibilities including career development, project management and workload prioritization.

 

We’re excited about you if you have:

  • 7+ years of experience in an analytical, strategic role
  • 2+ years of managing direct reports
  • Technical skills: Strong SQL coding skills required (can join/merge data sets with complex relationships); Moderate/Advanced Tableau skills (or comparable data visualization tool) required; Data Science plus
  • Strong analytical and financial skills with ability to perform complex analyses to generate data driven insights and recommendations as well as develop program/initiative business cases
  • Ability to serve as an outstanding problem-solver with excellent business acumen
  • Work independently, appropriately escalate or ask for help, and simultaneously manage multiple projects
  • Comfortable managing ambiguity, navigating organizational complexities and being flexible to respond to changing needs and priorities
  • Experience with client analytics preferred; and experience in retail or strategy consulting role a plus
