The Opportunity:

Business Intelligence & Analytics Team: The Sephora Business Intelligence & Analytics team works in close partnership with key stakeholders across the organization identifying strategic opportunities and making data-driven decisions.  We play a critical role in helping cross-functional teams understand the drivers of business performance through the lens of our clients and provide actionable insights across multiple departments from Marketing to Merchandising to Omnichannel Retail to Loyalty. Our VP reports directly to the CEO and interacts frequently with senior leadership across the organization.

 

Your role at Sephora: The Manager, Business Intelligence & Analytics – Merchandising Store Planning & Insights, is responsible for providing thought leadership and strategic insights to our Merchandising Space Optimization Team. This individual contributor manager role has no direct report. However, he/she will partner within Analytics and across the organization to develop a well-rounded perspective on business performance and bring client insights together to tell a cohesive story and drive strategic decisions. The Manager will also be responsible for developing new dashboards, improving data infrastructure, putting together analyses and a strategic framework to better support the Merchandising Space Optimization Team in their day-to-day work.

 

The ideal candidate is a self-starter, has outstanding analytic skills and a strong business acumen. They are data-savvy and have an intellectual curiosity to drill deep to uncover business drivers and present insightful, actionable recommendations to the business.  This candidate can successfully build collaborative partnerships across the organization, independently manage projects, and work effectively with other analytics team members and leadership.

 

In addition, you will: 

  • Own maintenance, improvement and publishing of all productivity reporting used to support spatial decision making and brand deployment across Sephora’s fleet of stores.
  • Transform business questions into fact-based analyses that deliver clear insights and actionable recommendations, with some examples including the advising on roll out plan for a new brand, creating store groups to determine where best to roll out brands based on the type of brands, optimize placement in stores.
  • Conduct test to evaluate performances of a placement (test vs control, pre vs post analysis).
  • Provide clear metrics to measure performances, such as productivity KPIs, and create a benchmark.
  • Support evaluation and deployment of new space planning software to improve space optimization and ensure it’s connected to our data system.

 

We’re excited about you if you have:

  • 5+ years of experience in analytics and data science
  • Technical skills: Strong SQL coding skills required (can join/merge data sets with complex relationships); Moderate/Advanced Tableau skills (or comparable data visualization tool) required; Data Science (Python, R) a plus
  • Experience deploying new tool, including new technology evaluation, working with Tech teams to build new data infrastructure and setting up report automation
  • Strong analytical and financial skills with ability to perform complex analyses to generate data driven insights and recommendations as well as develop program/initiative business cases
  • Ability to serve as an outstanding problem-solver with excellent business acumen
  • Work independently, appropriately escalate or ask for help, and simultaneously manage multiple projects
  • Comfortable managing ambiguity, navigating organizational complexities and being flexible to respond to changing needs and priorities
  • Experience with client analytics preferred; and experience in retail or strategy consulting role a plus #LI-AZ1

The annual base salary range for this position is $124,000.00 - $155,000.00 The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the applicant’s qualifications for the position; years of relevant experience; specific and unique skills; level of education attained; certifications or other professional licenses held; other legitimate, non-discriminatory business factors specific to the position; and the geographic location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will perform the job.  Individuals employed in this position may also be eligible to earn bonuses.  Sephora offers a generous benefits package to full-time employees, which includes comprehensive health, dental and vision plans; a superior 401(k) plan, various paid time off programs; employee discount/perks; life insurance; disability insurance; flexible spending accounts; and an employee referral bonus program.
