The opportunity:
 

Overview 

The mission for the Training Manager is to collaborate with the Head of HR and Education and Head of Retail to create, lead and manage retail training initiatives for Sephora Singapore. You will develop and deliver innovative and contemporary education initiatives and programmes which enable the Singapore organisation to meet its business objectives via a skilled and engaged retail workforce. You will take ownership of the development, delivery and deployment of retail training initiatives, develop and evaluate course material, in addition to the local deployment of global/regional training initiatives within the Singapore market. 

 

Job Responsibilities: 

Strategy and program development

  • In collaboration with Head of Retail and Head of HR and Education, consider Singapore country priorities; as well as the SEA training strategy to determine the retail training strategy for Singapore.
  • Lead the development, delivery, embedding and evaluation of a variety of training initiatives.
  • Modify or create training content meet Singapore’s specific training needs.
  • Partner with cross functional departments to align on training deliverables within their projects and then ensure they are integrated into future education programs.
  • Work with the Head of HR and Education to the develop and manage the training budget and hours required to deliver the objectives.
  • Identify the next generation of training courses reflecting the company’s strategy.
  • Develop tutorial and coaching tools for effective learning in store environment.

 

Training and Coaching 

  • Conduct training needs analysis as and when needed to identify opportunities.
  • Develop, deliver, and evaluate a variety of training programs and initiatives for the Singapore retail team.
  • Manage the deployment of training objectives and the transfer of learning along with other training team members. 
  • Lead, coach and develop training team members to deliver best in class training programs and field coaching. 
  • Apply a commercial and client centred approach to training content and collaborate with the internal and external stakeholders to ensure Sephora business needs are met. 
  • Co-ordinate, collaborate and communication with Brand Partners to achieve business goals. 

 

Organisation, Planning and Reporting 

  • The Training Manager will be required to stay abreast of client and industry trends, internal communications and projects, and work with relevant internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and consistency across the Sephora business on any education program. 
  • Attend and participate in local and regional meetings/strategy sessions and regular connects with the retail team to advocate for Cast needs.  
  • Plan, manage and maintain training schedules, records and budgets. 
  • Lead the Singapore training team to utilise monthly reports and/or system reports to complete any local, regional or global reporting requirements. 

 

Management / Reporting Line 

  • Managing a small team of two executives
  • Reports to the Head of HR and Education 

 

Key Competencies 

  • Degree qualification accompanied by minimum 5 years’ experience in similar role.
  • Beauty experience essential
  • Qualification in Learning & Development an advantage.
  • Knowledge of adult learning pedagogies and instructional design principles
  • Experience in social and digital learning preferred.
  • Entrepreneurial and able to work in a fast-paced environment with numerous stakeholders.
  • Hands-on and solution-oriented with the ability to manage and lead others to do the same.
  • Client centric and commercial mind set.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and facilitation skills 
  • Ability to listen and understand the needs of the customer, translating those needs into educational focuses.
