Staff Software Engineer

Sephora SEA’s Engineering is one of the few standalone engineering teams within LVMH, and thus this represents a unique entry point into a world leading luxury group which is increasingly investing in digital and ecommerce. 

We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our team of 45 engineers across Singapore and India. The Staff Software Engineering role at Sephora is a technical role focused on architecture, implementation and teaching and eventually leads to either an Principal Engineer role or a technology leadership role (eg. Head of Engineering, CTO). You will be working closely with two or three of our squads (5-7 person teams focused on a specific business domain or set of KPI’s) and regularly interacting with other senior and staff and principal engineers across the organisation.

•    Scope and lead large technical projects that will positively impact our technical ecosystem and help us create an amazing experience for our customers
•    Design solutions that are scalable, secure and stem from well-reasoned decisions on application architecture as well as technology choices
•    Contribute directly to the implementation of these solutions and be a role model for how great code should be written at Sephora
•    Help out teams make technical decisions, taking into consideration software best-practices, feasibility and complexity as well as stakeholder needs
•    Perform code and architecture reviews for other team members, taking the opportunity to coach and educate along the way
•    Influence our technological and tooling ecosystem by identifying opportunities for improvement, running evaluations, and driving changes across our engineering teams

We would love to hear from you if …

•    You have 7+ years of experience designing and building scalable software systems and API’s
•    You have a broad technical background including security and infrastructure and are well-versed in a number of programming languages. Prior experience with Ruby,  Javascript or similar languages is strongly preferred
•    You have experience with and enjoy sharing your knowledge and coaching other engineers within the team, even at more senior levels
•    You are a team-player and work well within your team as well as across your function and organization. Your co-workers and stakeholders trust you
•    Your are able to manage and lead technical roadmaps for your business domain, including identifying and actioning on long-term opportunities or risks
