Senior Business Intelligence Analyst, Asia

 

At Sephora, we make decisions that impact the future of omni-channel beauty retail every day. Data plays a big role in that, and the Business Intelligence (BI) team enables data-driven decision-making across the business. The two functions under BI are Data Management (DM) and Analytics. The Senior Business Intelligence Analyst plays a hybrid role in both functions; primarily in analytics to empower our business with advanced analytics and insights, and a secondary role in DM to streamline backend data pipelines. You will work in various projects to gather domain knowledge from different business functions, observe the gaps and opportunities from data insights and provide data-driven solution either on Domo, our corporate BI platform with 1500+ internal and external users, or via on-demand insights report.  

 

This role will work closely with different business functions including Retail Operations, Merchandising, Supply Chain, CRM, E-Commerce, Marketing, and cover all Sephora Asia markets across Greater China, South East Asia, Oceania, and South Korea. You will then translate business requests into data solutions, and collaborate with Sephora tech teams (data engineers and digital product owners) to deliver the solutions.    

 

In this role we expect you to…

 

… Explore data and derive actionable business insights

  • Be the subject matter expert of Sephora data insights
  • Be the subject matter expert on data transformation and visualization
  • Analyze business requirements, identify gaps, and provide business recommendations to business leaders for implementation
  • Collaborate with team members for the purpose of collecting data and executing the company’s mission


… Build interactive dashboards for business to self-serve data insights

  • Leverage on our corporate BI tool – Domo to build self-serve data insights dashboards
  • Explore new functions on Domo with the goal of providing user-centric dashboards
  • Onboard new tools to fill the analytics gap where necessary
     

…Build a data-driven culture and improve data skills across the organization

  • Share data insights within the analytics community and drive data savviness among non-analyst users


…Build robust and scalable data governance ecosystem

  • Assist DM manager to establish data management and governance policies, workflow and processes for operations and business continuity
  • Develop and implement data building and data validation procedures to ensure data accuracy and consistency

 


We would love to hear from you if you have…

  • Minimum 3 years of analytics experience in SQL programming , Hive, or other big data ecosystems
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Economics or other related fields; international exposure both educational and/or professional, is a plus
  • Advanced level in building views on a data visualization platform (eg, Tableau, Qlik, Domo, etc.)
  • Data modelling experience or experience on data science platforms (eg, Dataiku, Alteryx, etc.), familiarity with statistical analysis tools (e.g. R, Python) is preferred
  • Good knowledge of the overall Information Management framework, including operating model, data governance, data management, data quality and data architecture
  • Experience managing projects independently and working with stakeholders from all seniority levels
  • Strong passion for data and experience in analyzing large datasets and translating it to actionable business insights
  • A relentless zeal to unearth patterns or problems in the data, and are persistent in serving our internal customers
  • A growth mindset; as well as the adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • High level of integrity, takes accountability of work and a great team player
  • Good command of spoken and written English; fluency in Mandarin is a plus to work with Shanghai-based colleagues
