Sephora APAC’s omni channel business spans over 8 countries (Australia, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand) with 100+ stores and boasts some global flagships such as ION and Raffles City in Singapore, F88 in Kuala Lumpur and Pitt Street in Sydney. Sephora APAC is experiencing rapid growth in the region with new store openings and business channels (i.e., Click and collect and marketplace).
The opportunity:
Head of Merchandising, Malaysia & Singapore
As the Head of Merchandising, you will be responsible for ensuring financial targets are met by developing and implementing market strategies to maximize revenue and profitability. You will lead the execution of omni-channel strategies aligned with regional strategies to drive growth, profitability, and brand equity. Working with brand partners, you will ensure strong performance and smooth execution across all aspects of merchandising. Additionally, you will collaborate with regional Merchandising and cross-functional teams to align on strategic plans, oversee new product launches and promotional activities, and ensure effective planning and forecasting.

- Delivering category and brand growth, revenue, profitability targets, making data-driven decisions to optimize omni-channel category performance through close monitoring of financial performance
- Ensuring smooth execution across all aspects of merchandising in-store and online as the local point-of-contact for brands. This includes a clearly defined annual brand plan, with strong marketing support, visual merchandising and animation excellence and the effective flow of goods to both stores and online
- Maintaining and updating brand contracts
- Overseeing the execution of new product launches and promotional activities to drive market penetration and sales growth
- Working in partnership with other teams to ensure effective planning and forecasting based on market needs, ensuring healthy stock conditions including the monitoring of slow-moving lines and depreciation cost
- Gathering and analyzing data on local market trends related to categories, brands, products, etc. to inform strategies and decisions
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams and regional Merchandising team to ensure the assortment meets customer needs and maximizes sales potential through tracking of category and brand performance metrics
- Implementing pricing adjustments to optimize profitability and competitiveness
- Team management responsibility, including leading a team of managers and professionals, planning for the team’s future needs and operations. Ensuring your team’s performance, development, succession, and career advancement plans are in place through regular talent reviews and collaboration
We would love to hear from you if you are/have…
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Merchandising, Marketing, or a related field, MBA would be an advantage
- Strong experience in retail, merchandising or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
- Experience in managing product categories, including developing and executing strategies to optimize product assortment, pricing, and promotions
- Proven experience in managing P&L statements, budgeting, and financial analysis
- Experience in analyzing market research and consumer trends to inform merchandising strategies
- Experience in planning and executing new product launches, promotional activities, and other merchandising projects
- Strong leadership skills to ensure effective collaboration and high performance
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present effectively to senior stakeholders
- Stakeholder management and influencing skills in a multicultural environment
- Strong ability to manage multiple tasks and projects efficiently
- Strong ability to identify issues and develop effective solutions in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with merchandising software and tools for data analysis and reporting
- Excellent spoken and written English, any other language is a plus
