Assistant Manager, HR Business Partner

Sephora SEA’s retail activity spans over 8 countries (Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, India, Australia, New Zealand and Korea) with 50+ stores and boasts some global flagships such as Fahrenheit 88 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Ion in Singapore. Its digital activities span over eight countries (retail countries excluding India, plus Philippines).  Sephora SEA has experienced rapid growth in the region with many more stores and countries to come.

Sephora Malaysia is looking to recruit a HR Business Partner. As a HR Business Partner, you will act as a strategic partner to the business, aligning HR strategies with business objectives to drive organizational effectiveness and growth.

Strategic HR Alignment and Business Partnering 

  • Collaborating with Head of HR and Education to develop and implement HR strategies that align with Sephora’s business objectives 

  • Building collaborative relationships with business leaders, anticipating, and addressing business-specific needs
  • Utilizing HR analytics to support people-related decisions and facilitate talent movement across functions 
  • Partnering with Department Heads to enhance organizational and people capabilities for long-term business growth 
  • Supporting the Head of HR and Education with change management practices to align with and support the market’s business objectives 

 

Employee Engagement 

  • Collaborating with the Head of HR and Education to promote a positive workplace environment through employee communication and engagement, and implementing measures to embed Sephora purpose and values across the organization 

 

Performance Management 

  • Managing the Annual Performance Review, Annual Salary Review and Promotion Cycles 
  • Developing and delivering talent acquisition, development, and retention strategies 
  • Driving recruitment efforts and Sephora’s employment brand initiatives 
  • Collaborating with the respective market functions to identify key talent and drive succession planning 
  • Coaching People Leaders on performance management strategies and processes (eg. Annual Performance Review, PIP, etc) 

 

Ethics and Compliance 

  • Managing employee relations issues and advising line managers to minimize risk 
  • Ensuring HR activities and advice comply with relevant business policies and ethical standards, legal business obligations and legislations
  • Communicating and implementing changes to HR policies and ensuring proper disciplinary procedures are followed
  • Partnering with APAC HR to implement market-specific Ethics and Compliance policies based on Global guidelines 
  • Collaborating with APAC HR to manage ethics and compliance investigations


We would love to hear from you if you are/have…

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field 
  • At least 6 years of experience as a HR Generalist, with experience in the areas of hiring and development etc
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and regulations and HR practices 
  • Hands-on and solution-oriented with the ability to manage some operational areas if required on an ad-hoc basis 
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and able to work in a fast-paced environment with numerous stakeholders 
  • An advocate for people engagement and development 
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills to balance and prioritize work 
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills 
  • The ability to maintain resilience and agility 
  • Experience in a fast-moving environment would be an advantage
  • Excellent spoken and written English, any other languages a plus
